Case IH 520616-03 - ACM – ACM: Rear PTO engage switch voltage high

The control module is detecting a voltage on the Rear PTO engage switch circuit that is above the normal operating range. This is typically caused by the switch input being shorted to a high voltage source (such as +12 Volts) or a damaged internal switch mechanism/potentiometer.

   Visually inspect the Rear PTO switch (both the cab/armrest switch and the fender-mounted switch, if equipped) for physical damage, sticking, or being jammed in the 'on' position.

   Perform a Rear PTO Switch Circuit Test using a multimeter.

   Probe the switch input wiring to check for a short circuit to +12 Volts (+Ve Voltage).

   Check the wiring harness connections at the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion.

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery

   This prevents electrical damage.

   Locate the suspect Rear PTO engage switch

   The switch is located either on the armrest console or the rear fender.

   Carefully remove the surrounding trim or paneling

   This provides access to the switch and its wiring harness.

   Disconnect the switch from the harness and inspect the connector

   Look for corrosion or melted plastic.

   Use a multimeter to test the switch for internal shorts

   If the switch fails the continuity test or is physically broken, it must be replaced.

   Trace the wiring harness back to the Armrest Control Module (ACM)

   If the switch tests good, use the multimeter to locate the short to power (+12V).

   Repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness

   Perform this as necessary based on the harness test.

   Reconnect the switch and the battery

   Power up the tractor and clear the fault codes to verify the repair.
