Case IH 520616-06 - ACM – ACM: Rear PTO engage switch voltage low

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) engagement switch that is below the minimum expected threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the switch wiring, or an internal failure of the switch itself.

   Check for other related ACM codes (e.g., 520616-03 for voltage high, or 520616-00/01 for internal switch failure) to determine if the issue is harness-related.

   Inspect the PTO switch on the armrest for physical damage, sticking, or fluid intrusion (such as spilled drinks).

   Check remote fender PTO switches to ensure they are not stuck or being operated simultaneously, which can trigger interlock faults.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the PTO switch and the Armrest Control Module (ACM) for chafed wires, pinched harnesses under the armrest pivot, or corroded connector pins.

   Perform a voltage drop test using a multimeter to verify that the switch is receiving its proper reference voltage (5V or 12V) and has a clean ground.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully remove the trim panels on the AFS Connect armrest console to access the underside of the PTO engagement switch.

   Disconnect and Inspect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the PTO switch. Inspect both the male and female pins for pushed-out terminals, corrosion, or moisture.

   Test the Switch

   Using a digital multimeter set to continuity/ohms, probe the switch terminals while toggling the switch on and off. If the switch does not show a clear open/closed state according to the circuit diagram, the switch has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Test the Harness

   If the switch tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the switch connector back to the ACM pins. Repair any broken wires or shorts to ground.

   Reassembly

   Install the new switch (or repaired harness), reconnect the plug, and reassemble the armrest trim.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic display to clear the inactive 520616-06 fault code. Start the tractor and engage the PTO to verify the repair.
