Case IH 520616-14 - ACM – ACM: Incorrect rear PTO engage switch configuration

Issue description

The control module is detecting a mismatch between the tractor's programmed software configuration for the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) and the physical hardware/switch installed. This typically happens if the wrong switch is installed, if the vehicle configuration parameters were incorrectly altered, or if the switch is sending an invalid hardware identification signal.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Magnum 400 AFS Connect

Check the cause

  1. Verify Software Configuration: Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or access the AFS Pro display diagnostics to ensure the Rear PTO option is configured correctly for the tractor's specific build.

  2. Inspect the Switch Hardware: Verify that the rear PTO switch located on the armrest is the correct OEM part for the AFS Connect series.

  3. Check Wiring and Connectors: Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the PTO switch for any damage, corrosion, or tampering that might cause the ACM to read an incorrect switch state.

  4. Check for Related Codes: Look for accompanying ACM codes that might indicate a hardware failure rather than a configuration issue (e.g., 520616-13, 520616-06, or 520616-01).

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Hook up the Case IH EST to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Correct the Configuration

Navigate to the Armrest Control Module (ACM) configuration menu. If the Rear PTO configuration parameter is incorrect, update it to match the physical hardware installed on the tractor and save the changes.

  3. Access the Switch

If the configuration is correct but the fault persists (indicating the switch is the wrong part or has failed internally), power down the tractor and remove the necessary trim panels on the MultiControl armrest to access the PTO switch assembly.

  4. Replace the Switch

Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear PTO engage switch. Remove the retaining clips or screws and pull the switch out. Install the correct OEM replacement switch and reconnect the harness.

  5. Clear Codes

Turn the key to the ON position, use the EST to clear the 520616-14 fault code, and cycle the tractor's power.

  6. Test Operation

Start the engine in a safe environment and test the rear PTO engagement to ensure the code does not return and the PTO operates smoothly.
