520622-02 - ACM

Case IH 520622-02 - ACM – ACM: Transmission range down switch circuit fault

Issue description

This indicates an electrical circuit malfunction (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) specifically affecting the button/switch used by the operator to downshift or decrease the transmission range.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect Series
  • Case IH Steiger AFS Connect Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the 'Transmission range down' button on the Multi-Function Handle (joystick) to see if it is physically stuck, sticking due to debris, or damaged.

  2. Remove the armrest trim to access the wiring between the Multi-Function Handle and the Armrest Control Module. Inspect the wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or loose/corroded connector pins.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the switch circuit when the button is pressed and released.

  4. Check for related ACM codes (e.g., 520623-02 for the range up switch, or 518434-xx codes for the MFH being disconnected). If multiple buttons are throwing circuit faults, the issue is likely a shared ground, a damaged main harness, or the ACM itself, rather than a single switch.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts or static damage to the ACM.

  2. Disassemble the Armrest

Carefully pry or unscrew the plastic trim panels on the armrest console to expose the base of the Multi-Function Handle and the ACM.

  3. Disconnect the Handle

Locate the main electrical connector routing from the base of the joystick to the ACM harness and disconnect it.

  4. Remove the Handle

Unbolt the Multi-Function Handle assembly from its mounting bracket on the armrest.

  5. Install the New Part

Mount the replacement Multi-Function Handle. Carefully route the wiring harness to ensure it will not be pinched when the armrest is adjusted or reassembled.

  6. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the electrical connector, reinstall the armrest trim panels, and reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the inactive fault codes via the AFS Pro display or dealer EST tool, and test the transmission range down button to verify the repair.
