Case IH 520625-02 - ACM – ACM: ACM: Multi function handle shuttle forward switch circuit fault

Issue description

This indicates an electrical circuit malfunction (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or erratic voltage) specifically affecting the S-110 Shuttle Forward Switch located on the tractor's joystick. When this code is active, the tractor may fail to register forward directional commands from the multi-function handle.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Puma series
  • Magnum series (215, 260, 290)
  • Steiger series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Multi-Function Handle (MFH) and the Armrest Controller for pinched wires, chafing inside the armrest pivot points, or loose pins.

  2. Test the S-110 Shuttle Forward Switch for proper continuity to verify that the switch transitions smoothly without erratic resistance spikes when pressed.

  3. Verify the 5V/9V reference voltage and sensor ground supplied by the ACM to the multi-function handle. A drop in voltage could trigger switch circuit faults.

  4. Check for accompanying codes (such as the S-111 Shuttle Reverse Switch or general MFH voltage errors). If multiple switch codes are present, the issue is likely a shared ground or a failed Armrest Controller rather than the switch itself.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to protect the electronic modules.

  2. Access the Armrest

Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the upper plastic housing of the Multicontroller armrest to expose the internal wiring and the base of the joystick.

  3. Disconnect the MFH

Unplug the main electrical connector linking the Multi-Function Handle to the Armrest Controller harness.

  4. Replace the Component

Depending on the specific handle revision, the shuttle switches may be integrated into the joystick circuit board. If the S-110 switch cannot be serviced individually, remove the mounting bolts at the base of the joystick and replace the entire Multi-Function Handle assembly.

  5. Reassembly

Mount the new handle, reconnect the electrical harness, and ensure the wiring is routed away from pinch points. Reinstall the armrest cover.

  6. Calibration & Testing

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the stored fault codes via the Pro 700/Pro 1200 display, and test the forward shuttle command to ensure the transmission engages properly.
