Case IH 520710-13 - ITBV – ITBV (Intelligent Trailer Brake Valve / Trailer Brake Control): Out of Calibration

The Trailer Brake Control module (ITBV) or its associated position/pressure sensor has lost its calibration values, failed a plausibility check, or requires a re-calibration to function properly.

   Verify the software version of the ITBV module (should be running software version 1.3.0.0 / part number 51595354 or newer)

   Inspect the wiring harness, dual hydraulic trailer brake pressure sensors, and connectors leading to the ITBV for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage

   Check the brake pedal switches and sensors for plausibility, ensuring the physical brake pedal is not sticking

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a compatible multi-system diagnostic platform (like Jaltest) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Access the ITBV Module

   Navigate to the Trailer Brake Control (ITBV) module.

   Perform Calibration

   Initiate the Trailer Brake Valve calibration procedure as prompted by the EST software. Follow all on-screen conditions (e.g., engine off/on, park brake applied, brake pedal actuations).

   Clear Codes

   Once calibration is successful, clear the pending/permanent 520710-13 fault code.

   Test Operation

   Test the trailer brake pedal to ensure the demand pressure sensor and brake switches read valid outputs without triggering a plausibility error.

   Replace if Necessary

   If the ITBV valve fails to accept or hold the calibration, the internal sensor or valve body is likely defective and the ITBV assembly must be replaced.
