Case IH 522827-06 - PCM – PCM: HSD output-1 overcurrent

The control module is detecting a current draw on its #1 High Side Driver output circuit that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground in the wiring harness or a defective, internally shorted component on that specific circuit.

   Consult the specific machine's electrical schematic to identify which component or accessory is powered by PCM HSD Output 1.

   Disconnect the component powered by this output. Turn the key on and check if the fault code changes from an overcurrent code (522827-06) to an open circuit code (such as 522827-05). If it does, the component is internally shorted.

   If the overcurrent code remains with the component disconnected, inspect the wiring harness between the PCM and the component. Look for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or areas where the wire may be rubbing against the chassis and shorting to ground.

   Ensure the connectors at the PCM are clean, free of corrosion, and fully seated.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short to ground was found in the wiring harness during diagnostics, repair the damaged wire using OEM-approved splicing methods or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace Component

   If the diagnostic checks proved the connected component was drawing too much current, replace the component.

   Replace the PCM

   If the wiring harness and the component are both in good working order but the PCM continues to log an overcurrent fault, the PCM's internal High Side Driver is likely damaged. Remove the mounting hardware and disconnect the cellular/GNSS antennas and main harness to remove the PCM.

   Module Programming

   If a new PCM is installed, it must be programmed. Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) base software and a USB memory device to copy the complete program files onto the new Processing and Connectivity Module.
