Case IH 522834-05 - PCM – PCM: LAN-1 open circuit
Issue description
Indicates a break in communication or a physical wiring disconnect on the Local Area Network 1 (LAN-1) circuit connected to the module.

Check the cause
Locate the PCM (Processing and Communications Module) on the machine.
Inspect the main wiring harness connector at the PCM for loose, backed-out, or corroded pins.
Trace the LAN-1 network wiring from the PCM to the machine's central diagnostic connector/gateway to check for chafed, broken, or disconnected wires.
Test the continuity of the LAN-1 circuit using a multimeter (consult the specific machine's wiring schematic for exact pinout numbers).
Repair steps
Harness Repair
If a break or loose connection is found in the LAN-1 wiring during continuity testing, repair the damaged wire or replace the connector terminal.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the PCM, cycle the key power, and use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) with a Type 2 (green) DPA5 adapter to clear the fault code.
Module Replacement
If the wiring harness is fully intact and continuity is verified, the open circuit is likely an internal failure within the PCM itself. The PCM will need to be replaced and provisioned by a dealer to restore AFS Connect telematics.
