Case IH 522835-05 - PCM – PCM: LAN-2 Open Circuit

Current below normal or open circuit on the Local Area Network 2 communication line.

   Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery cable to ensure the system is fully powered down before probing network pins.

   Inspect the PCM connectors and the main harness for the LAN-2 branch for backed-out pins, corrosion, or physical wire chafing.

   Disconnect the PCM harness connector and the corresponding module connector on the LAN-2 line, then use a digital multimeter to check for continuity across the LAN-2 network wires.

   Ensure the PCM is receiving proper operating voltage and ground, and check for any blown fuses related to the PCM or network modules.

   Isolate the Break

   Based on the continuity test, trace the LAN-2 wiring harness to locate the exact point of the open circuit.

   Repair the Harness

   If a broken wire or damaged connector pin is found, repair the wiring harness using OEM-approved splicing methods or replace the damaged connector terminal.

   Reconnect and Secure

   Reconnect all network modules and the PCM. Ensure the connector locks are fully seated to prevent future vibration-induced open circuits.

   Test the Network

   Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition ON.

   Clear Codes

   Use the Case IH diagnostic tool (EST) or the AFS Pro display to clear the 522835-05 fault code.

   Module Replacement (If Necessary)

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly (no open circuits found in the physical wiring) and the code immediately returns, the internal LAN-2 transceiver within the PCM has likely failed. The PCM will need to be replaced and provisioned by a dealer.
