523257 - 12 - CSM

Case IH 523257 - 12 - CSM – Mini Lever Module (MLM): Lever 2 Position Data Invalid

Issue description

The controller is receiving out-of-range or unrecognizable position data from the second hydraulic control lever (joystick/mini-lever).

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Hyster and Yale forklifts
  • Hyster H280XL

Check the cause

  1. Power Cycle: Turn the machine's power to OFF for no less than 30 seconds, then turn it back to ON to clear the displayed DTC. Check if the reported DTC reoccurs. If it does not, the problem is not verified and operation can resume.

  2. Visual Inspection: Conduct a thorough visual inspection of all seat connectors and wiring harnesses leading to the armrest/levers. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Component Test: Perform the "TEST - Mini-Levers" operational check via the diagnostic menu to verify the raw voltage/position data of Lever 2.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If any faults were detected during the visual inspection of the seat connectors/wiring, repair or replace the affected connector or wiring.

  2. Replace Mini-Levers (Cause A)

If the wiring is intact but Lever 2 fails the operational test, the internal potentiometer/sensor is faulty. Replace the mini-lever assembly. Repeat the operational check.

  3. Replace the MLM (Cause B)

If the mini-levers pass the test but the DTC 523257-12 still reoccurs, the failure is within the module itself. Replace the Mini Lever Module (MLM).

  4. Final Verification

Turn the power on and verify that the DTC has been successfully cleared and does not return during hydraulic operation.
