Check the cause
Check the CAN Bus: Verify the communication network integrity between the vehicle controller and the transmission/shift lever.
Check the Shift Lever: Test the shift lever to ensure it is sending the correct output signals and is not timing out.
Repair steps
Inspect CAN bus wiring
Inspect the physical CAN bus wiring harness connecting the shift lever to the vehicle's control modules for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.
Test shift lever signal
Test the shift lever's signal output using a diagnostic tool to see if the ZFSL1 message is being broadcast.
Replace shift lever
If the wiring is intact but the signal is missing or invalid, replace the defective shift lever.
Verify CSM software and communication
If the issue is related to the Cab Suspension Module, verify the CSM software and CAN communication lines (CSM on AFS Connect Magnums runs software version 1.0.0.0).
Clear codes and test
Clear the fault codes and perform a test operation to ensure the transmission shutdown mode is resolved and CAN communication is restored.
