Case IH 524267-31 - ITBV – ITBV (Intelligent Trailer Brake Valve): Trailer brake controller internal fault

An internal hardware or software failure has been detected inside the Intelligent Trailer Brake Valve (ITBV) controller.

• MAGNUM AFS Connect
• Farmall 40-45-50 Tractors with Cab and CVT Transmissions
• Steiger AFS Connect

   Verify the exact fault code using a diagnostic tool (look for codes 12885 or 12886).

   Check the wiring harnesses and connectors leading to the ITBV for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or poor pin fitment.

   Verify that the ITBV module is receiving proper power and ground.

   Diagnose internal fault

   If wiring and power/ground checks pass, an 'Internal Fault' code typically indicates a non-serviceable failure within the sealed controller itself.

   Depressurize system

   Disconnect the battery and relieve hydraulic pressure from the braking system.

   Disconnect lines

   Disconnect the electrical harnesses and hydraulic lines (such as the ITBV to Solenoid Valve tube) from the ITBV unit.

   Replace module

   Remove the faulty ITBV module and install the replacement unit.

   Reconnect lines

   Reconnect hydraulic lines and electrical connectors.

   Bleed system

   Bleed the trailer brake hydraulic system.

   Flash and calibrate

   Use the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) to flash the correct software (e.g., software part number 51595354 for Magnum AFS Connect) and calibrate the new ITBV module.
