Case IH 5372 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Enhanced High-Flow Auxiliary Option: Forward Solenoid (A) Supply Open Circuit

The controller has detected a break in the electrical circuit (an open circuit) supplying power to the forward directional solenoid on the Enhanced High-Flow (EHF) hydraulic pump/valve assembly.

   Visually inspect the EHF Forward Solenoid (A) electrical connector on the auxiliary hydraulic gear pump/valve block for disconnected plugs, backed-out pins, or heavy corrosion.

   Perform a coil continuity test by disconnecting the harness from the solenoid and using a multimeter to measure resistance across the coil pins (an infinite/OL reading indicates an internal open circuit).

   Test the harness integrity between the solenoid connector and the Universal Control Module (UCM), looking for pinched, chafed, or broken wires near the loader arms and pump housing.

   Safety First

   Lower the loader arms completely (or engage the loader arm lock if they must be raised). Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground to protect the UCM.

   Access the Solenoid

   Locate the Enhanced High Flow auxiliary gear pump and the electro-hydraulic valve block. Identify Solenoid (A) which controls the forward flow.

   Repair the Wiring

   If your diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire in the harness between the UCM and the solenoid, splice and heat-shrink the broken wire, or replace the damaged harness section.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the solenoid coil failed the continuity test, remove the retaining nut holding the coil to the valve stem. Slide the old coil off and slide the new one on. Torque the retaining nut to OEM spec (do not overtighten, as this can warp the valve spool).

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the solenoid. Reconnect the battery. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or an onboard diagnostic code eraser to clear the UCM fault codes. Test the auxiliary hydraulics to ensure the code does not return.
