Case IH 54120 – PTO Controller, Transmission Controller, or Performance Controller: Communications Lost with Armrest Controller
Issue description
The machine's CAN bus network has lost the data signal or connection to the armrest control unit, preventing the tractor's main systems from receiving inputs from the operator's armrest controls.

Check the cause
Visual Wiring Inspection: Check for places where the wiring harness has rubbed under the cab, which is a common cause for CAN bus communication loss.
Connector Inspection: Inspect all relevant connector ends for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins.
CAN Bus Voltage Check: Measure the CAN bus voltages. The yellow wire should read approximately 2.5 volts, and the green wire should read approximately 2.4 volts. These values should be consistent at both the armrest output and the ECUs.
Controller LED Check: Inspect the armrest controller circuit card. It should have a green LED light that flashes correctly when operating normally.
Service Tool Verification: Connect a diagnostic service tool to verify exactly which controllers are currently online and communicating on the bus.
