Case IH 55017: Voltage is detected on the 'Front PVE-Power' driver pin when not expected.

The system is detecting a high voltage state (a short to power/battery) on the circuit that supplies power to the Front PVE driver pin during a time when the controller is commanding the circuit to be off or inactive.

   Check the fault monitoring LED on the Front PVE actuator (should be green; red indicates an internal error)

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Front PVE for chafing, melted insulation, or pinch points that could cause a short to a 12V power source

   Disconnect the Front PVE connector and the corresponding ECU connector to check for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins bridging constant power to the driver pin

   With the circuit commanded off, use a multimeter to probe the driver pin at the PVE connector to verify if unexpected voltage is present

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage.

   Disconnect wiring harness

   Disconnect the wiring harness at both the Front PVE actuator and the controlling ECU.

   Test driver pin wire

   Test the specific driver pin wire for continuity to power.

   Repair or replace harness

   If a short to power is located in the harness, repair the damaged wiring or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace faulty component

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly, the fault may be an internal short within the PVE actuator itself or a failed driver inside the ECU. Replace the faulty component.

   Verify repair

   Reconnect all components, clear the fault codes, and cycle the hydraulic system to verify the repair.
