Case IH 55028 – STEERING: VOLTAJE DETECTADO EN PIN C057-10
Issue description
Circuit failure—either an open circuit, a short to power, or a short to ground—between the steering controller and the left steering makeup valve/solenoid.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- STX Steiger
- STX-275
- Steiger series 4WD tractors
Check the cause
Identify Pin C057-10: Locate the steering control module and identify connector C057, pin 10.
Harness Inspection: Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the steering controller to the left steering makeup solenoid. Look for chafing, pinch points, or melted insulation.
Connector Check: Disconnect the harness at the steering controller and at the valve. Inspect for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.
Continuity and Short Testing: Use a multimeter to check for continuity on the wire connecting pin C057-10 to the solenoid. Test the wire for a short to ground or a short to power (which aligns with the "Voltage detected" OEM description).
Component Testing: Ohm test the left makeup solenoid coil to verify it is within the manufacturer's specified resistance range and not internally shorted.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the tractor's battery power before servicing the steering control module.
Repair or replace harness
If a wiring fault (short or open) is found between pin C057-10 and the solenoid, repair the damaged section of the harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed splices, or replace the affected harness section.
Repair or replace connector
If the connector is corroded, depin and replace the damaged terminals or splice in a new pigtail connector.
Replace solenoid
If the harness tests good but the solenoid fails the resistance test, replace the left steering makeup solenoid/valve.
Reconnect battery and clear codes
Reconnect battery power, clear the stored fault codes via the diagnostic menu or CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST), and cycle the steering system to verify the code does not return.
