Case IH 55048 – Steering Control Module / Steering ECU: Low current passing through the left driver

The steering controller is attempting to send a signal to the left steering driver (the MAKEUP_LEFT driver pin) but detects little to no electrical current flowing through the circuit, which typically points to an open circuit, a disconnected harness, or a failed solenoid coil.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Steering ECU and the left steering valve/solenoid for breaks, corrosion, or disconnected pins

   Test the MAKEUP_LEFT driver pin circuit for continuity

   Verify the resistance of the left steering solenoid coil to ensure it is not internally open

   Locate valve block

   Locate the steering control valve block.

   Identify solenoid

   Identify the left steering driver solenoid (MAKEUP_LEFT).

   Repair wiring or connector

   Repair any broken wires or replace the damaged connector on the driver pin.

   Replace solenoid or valve

   Replace the steering solenoid or the entire steering valve assembly if the coil has failed internally.
