Case IH 56016 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Does Not Agree With Bottom of Clutch Pedal Switch.
Issue description
This fault occurs when the Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch has not closed when the inching (clutch) pedal position is greater than 12% of its calibrated range, or the BOC switch has not opened when the inching pedal position is less than 2% of its calibrated range.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- STX Steiger
- STX
- Steiger
- Puma
- MX Magnum
- Quadtrac
Check the cause
Check the inching (clutch) pedal, its position potentiometer, and the BOC switch assembly for proper mechanical installation, tightness, and adjustment.
Inspect the wire harness running from the transmission controller to the clutch pedal position potentiometer for open circuits or wires shorted to power.
Verify the voltage of the signal provided by the clutch pedal position potentiometer (a healthy sensor should typically read between 0.3 V and 4.8 V).
Repair steps
Correct Mechanical Issues
Tighten or adjust any loose mechanical linkages, the clutch pedal stop bolt, the clutch pedal position potentiometer, or the BOC switch.
Perform Adjustments
If any of the above components have been newly installed, incorrectly installed, or have loosened, you must perform the clutch pedal potentiometer, stop bolt, and bottom of clutch switch adjustment procedures (refer to Case IH Service Manual Section 5003).
Clear Fault Codes
Retrieve, record, and clear any fault codes from the TRANS module. The transmission controller calibration cannot be performed while active codes exist.
Recalibrate the Pedal
After mechanical adjustments are made and codes are cleared, you must perform the clutch pedal calibration procedure through the tractor's display monitor to relearn the pedal's upper and lower limits.
