Case IH 56067 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): System Pressure Test Point Fault During Pressure Calibration

Issue description

During the "CAL PRESSURE" calibration procedure, the controller records pressure calibration points at 1500 kPa (218 PSI) and 1000 kPa (145 PSI). The controller then commands the valve to what it determines should be 1103 kPa (160 PSI). If the resulting final pressure check does not fall within the expected limits of 1069 to 1138 kPa (155 to 165 PSI), this fault code is triggered.

Applies to these machines

  • STX Steiger
  • Case IH STX Series
  • Case IH Steiger Series
  • Case IH Puma Series

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission oil level and fill to the proper level if low

  2. Verify transmission system pressure sensor is reading accurately and inspect its wiring harness/connector for damage

  3. Check for a sticking system pressure valve (main pressure spool)

  4. Test for a weak transmission pump failing to generate adequate flow/pressure

  5. Inspect for transmission internal leaks (internal clutch pack or seal leaks bleeding off system pressure)

Repair steps

  1. Fluid Check

Park the tractor on a level surface and verify the transmission oil level. Top off if necessary.

  2. Visual Inspection

Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the transmission system pressure sensor and the system pressure valve solenoid for shorts, corrosion, or loose connections.

  3. Clear Codes

Enter the Trans Setup Menu on the instrumentation display. Retrieve, record, and clear any existing fault codes, as active codes will prevent a successful calibration.

  4. Component Testing

If fluid levels are fine, use a manual pressure gauge at the transmission test port to verify if the actual pressure matches the sensor's reading. If the manual gauge reads correctly but the sensor reads out of range, replace the Transmission System Pressure Sensor. If the manual gauge confirms low/erratic pressure, remove and inspect the System Pressure Valve for debris or sticking. If the valve is clean and functioning, flow-test the Transmission Oil Pump.

  5. Recalibrate

Once the faulty component is repaired or replaced, ensure the tractor is safely set up (inching pedal in a valid range) and re-run the Transmission Controller Calibration.
