56095

Case IH 56095 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Calibration Average System Pressure at Calibration Point is Out of Range.

Issue description

This code indicates that during the transmission calibration process, the average pressure at either the 1000 kPa (145 PSI) or 1500 kPa (218 PSI) calibration point deviated by more than 200 kPa (29 PSI) from the target calibration point.

Check the cause

  1. Check for improper transmission oil level; ensure the fluid is at the correct level and at operating temperature before attempting calibration.

  2. Inspect for a sticking system pressure valve caused by debris or wear preventing it from reaching target pressures.

  3. Check for an unstable transmission hydraulic system, looking for leaks, failing charge pumps, or aeration in the hydraulic fluid.

  4. Test for transmission sensor failure, as the pressure sensor may be reading inaccurately or failing.

Repair steps

  1. Fluid Check

Park the tractor on a level surface and verify the transmission hydraulic fluid level. Top off with the OEM-specified hydraulic/transmission fluid if low.

  2. Sensor Inspection

Locate the transmission pressure sensor on the transmission control valve block. Inspect the sensor's wiring harness and connector for corrosion, pushed pins, or wire chafing.

  3. Valve Inspection

If the sensor and wiring are intact, remove and inspect the transmission system pressure valve. Clean the valve of any debris. If the valve is scored or sticks inside its bore, the valve (or the control valve assembly) must be replaced.

  4. Component Replacement

Replace the transmission pressure sensor if it is outputting erratic voltage/pressure readings to the ECU.

  5. Recalibration

After topping off fluid or replacing the sensor/valve, bring the tractor up to normal operating temperature and re-run the transmission calibration procedure via the dash or diagnostic tool.
