Case IH 56113 – Transmission Controller (TCU): Trans Controller Failure — Internal short in the 1R Valve Coil circuit.

The transmission controller has commanded the 1-2 clutch solenoid driver (1R valve) to turn OFF, but the controller is sensing a voltage higher than 17 volts on the circuit. This indicates that power is bleeding into the circuit when it shouldn't be, which the system flags as an internal short or a failure of the valve coil driver.

   Retrieve and clear codes in the Trans View and Trans Setup menus, then operate the tractor to see if the code actively returns.

   Inspect the transmission wiring harness between the transmission controller and the 1R (1-2 clutch) valve coil for rubbed wires or melted insulation causing a short to battery voltage (12V-17V+).

   Disconnect the 1R valve coil and test the circuit voltage. If the voltage remains high (above 17V) when the controller is commanding the valve OFF, the driver inside the controller is confirmed to be shorted.

   Isolate the Controller

   If the wiring harness tests good and there is no external short to power, the 1R valve coil driver inside the transmission controller has failed.

   Replace the Controller

   Remove the faulty transmission controller and install the replacement unit.

   Recalibrate the Transmission

   Enter the "Trans Setup" menu on the display. Ensure the tractor is running, the transmission fluid is at operating temperature, and the inching pedal is in a valid range. Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle through the clutch fill processes until the display reads that the calibration is complete. Press the PROG key to exit the transmission calibration menu.
