Case IH 56114 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Trans Controller Failure -- Internal short in the 2F Valve Coil circuit.

The transmission controller has commanded the 3-4 clutch solenoid driver to turn OFF, but it has sensed a voltage higher than 17 volts. This indicates a transmission controller failure, specifically that the 2F valve coil driver inside the controller has failed.

   Retrieve, record, and clear any active fault codes to see if the code is a hard fault that immediately returns.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the 2F clutch solenoid and the transmission controller to ensure the wire is not shorted to a high-voltage source or ground.

   Verify the 2F clutch solenoid coil itself has not failed open or shorted, which can sometimes cause erratic driver behavior.

   Replace the Controller

   The transmission controller has failed. Replace the controller.

   Install New Module

   Disconnect the battery, remove the faulty transmission controller, and install the replacement unit.

   Calibrate the Transmission

   The transmission controller must be calibrated anytime the controller is changed.

   Calibration Steps

   Access the instrument display and press the DECR key until the display reads TRANS, then press the PROG key to enter the TRANS SETUP menu. Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the inching pedal (ensuring it is in a valid range). Proceed through the clutch fill calibration process. The display will indicate when the fill process is finished. Once complete, press the DECR key to go to the TRANS EXIT menu, and press the PROG key to exit transmission calibration and return to normal operation.
