Case IH 566-01 - DEC – DEC: Rear differential lock control solenoid electrical circuit fault voltage low.
Issue description
The controller is detecting a lower-than-expected voltage on the circuit responsible for actuating the rear differential lock solenoid. This condition typically points to a short to ground in the wiring harness, a disconnected or corroded connector, or an internal failure (shorted coil) within the differential lock solenoid itself.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear differential lock solenoid for chafing, shorts to ground, or disconnected plugs that would cause the voltage low reading.
Test the differential lock-unlock control switch in the cab to ensure it is not preventing the system from engaging or disengaging.
Determine if the differential lock control solenoid valve is mechanically jammed in the discharge or delivery position.
Check for oil leakage through the cylinder piston seals or feed pipe seals, which can cause a consequent pressure drop in the hydraulic circuit.
If the differential lock fails to disengage entirely, check if the differential lock release spring is broken (this may require removing the hydraulic lift to inspect).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to protect the DEC/TCU while servicing the electrical circuit.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the rear differential lock control solenoid valve. Depending on the model, it is typically an integral part of the transmission valve block or mounted directly on the rear drive axle housing.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the 2-terminal wiring harness connector from the solenoid. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion or melting.
Remove the Solenoid
Remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the solenoid coil/valve assembly in place.
Overhaul or Replace
As per the service manual, if the valve is jammed or the coil has failed electrically, overhaul or replace the solenoid valve. If replacing, slide the new solenoid onto the valve stem or thread the new cartridge valve into the manifold.
Replace Seals (If Applicable)
If hydraulic pressure drops were noted during diagnostics, replace any damaged O-rings, cylinder piston seals, or feed pipe seals before reassembly.
Reassembly
Tighten the solenoid to OEM torque specifications. Reconnect the 2-terminal electrical harness.
Test
Reconnect the battery. Start the machine and actuate the differential lock control switch to verify proper engagement and disengagement. Clear the 566-01 fault code from the DEC monitor.
