Case IH 566-03 - DEC – DEC (Drivetrain Electronic Controller): Differential Lock State - Central Rear: Voltage above normal or shorted high.
Issue description
The controller is detecting a higher voltage than expected on the electrical circuit for the rear differential lock control solenoid. This condition typically occurs when there is a short to a high-voltage source (like battery power) in the wiring harness, or an open circuit on the ground side that causes the circuit voltage to float high.

Check the cause
Verify that the differential lock switch/button in the cab is not physically stuck in the engaged position or internally shorted.
Inspect the wiring harness running from the DEC to the rear differential lock solenoid on the rear axle/transmission block for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched lines.
Disconnect the solenoid and use a multimeter to check voltage at the harness connector with the key ON (engine off). Battery voltage with the switch OFF indicates a short to power.
Check the ground pin on the harness connector for continuity to the chassis ground to rule out an open ground.
Measure the resistance across the pins of the differential lock solenoid. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates the coil has failed internally.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the rear differential lock control solenoid valve. It is typically mounted on the transmission control valve block or directly on the rear axle housing.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid with brake cleaner or a degreaser to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical connector. Depending on the design, either remove the retaining bolts holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem, or unscrew the entire solenoid cartridge from the valve block.
Install the New Solenoid
Lubricate the new O-rings on the replacement solenoid with clean hydraulic oil. Thread the new solenoid into the valve block and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect and Clear Codes
Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid. Turn the key ON and use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the instrument cluster diagnostic menu to clear the inactive fault code.
Operational Test
Start the engine and test the differential lock engagement and disengagement to ensure the system operates correctly and the code does not return.
