Case IH 57 – EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module: EDC Microprocessor Failure

The microprocessor inside the electronic control unit managing the hydraulic lift system has experienced an internal fault, or there is a severe communication/power issue mimicking a processor failure (such as a faulty harness or blown fuse).

   Clean and test the battery and main earth (ground) connections to ensure they are functioning correctly

   Check fuse 12 (or the specific EDC system fuse for your model). If a fault is indicated with the fuse, check the harness for a short to ground

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for poor contacts, corrosion, or intermittent short circuits. If a short to ground is indicated, repair or replace the harness as required and replace the fuse

   Turn the keystart OFF and ON. If the error code is still displayed, download/flash the correct level of software to the controller before replacing the hardware

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate module

   Locate the EDC central controller / electronic module (typically located in the right-hand console or behind the operator seat, depending on the cab layout).

   Disconnect harness

   Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the module.

   Remove controller

   Remove the mounting hardware and extract the faulty central controller (XCM/CFPS).

   Install replacement

   Install the replacement EDC control module and reconnect the harnesses.

   Clear codes

   Turn the key ON and clear the error codes from the system.

   Perform calibration

   After replacing the microprocessor/EDC module, you must perform a hydraulic lift auto-calibration (often associated with Error Code 24 procedures) to calibrate the lift arm potentiometers and lift control pod to the new module.
