Case IH 57 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller: Right Draft Pin voltage is not within spec for 'no load' condition during calibration.
Issue description
The controller has detected that the right-hand draft pin (load sensing pin) is sending a voltage signal that falls outside the expected normal operating range when there is zero load on the 3-point hitch during the calibration process.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- Magnum
- Magnum Series (215, 235, 245, 260, 275, 290, 305, 315, 335, 340)
- MX Magnum Series (MX180 through MX305)
- TG Series
- T8000 Series
- Magnum 7100 Series
- Magnum 7200 Series
- Magnum 8900 Series
Check the cause
System Default Check: Note that if the right pin fails, the system will enter a 'degraded mode' and attempt to use only the left pin to operate in draft mode. If the problem is intermittent, the draft function is disabled until the next engine start-up.
Wiring and Harness Inspection: Test the wire harness from the hitch controller to the right-hand draft pin. Look for damaged wires, corroded connectors, open circuits, or a short to ground (which can pull the 8V reference voltage down and cause controller issues).
Controller Fuse Check: Check the EDC microprocessor fuses (specifically noted as fuse 12 in some manuals) to ensure a shorted pin hasn't blown the circuit.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If any damaged wires or corroded pins are found in the harness connector at the right draft pin, repair them and clear the code.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring tests good, the right draft pin sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced. Safely support the hitch, remove the retaining hardware for the right draft pin, disconnect the electrical connector, and slide the old pin out. Install the new pin and reconnect the harness.
Hydraulic Lift Calibration
After replacing the EDC valve, microprocessor, or draft pins, you must perform a hydraulic lift calibration. This must be performed with warm hydraulic oil and a suitable implement or weight mounted on the hydraulic lift heavy enough to overcome any friction in the lift assembly so the arms can lower without binding.
