Case IH 58 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller: Left Draft Pin voltage is not within spec for 'no load' condition during calibration
Issue description
The no-load offset voltage reading from the left draft sensing pin is out of the acceptable range. The controller cannot establish a baseline zero-load value, which prevents the hitch calibration from completing successfully.

Check the cause
Verify 'No Load' condition: Ensure there is absolutely no implement attached and no weight resting on the lower link arms/draft pins during calibration. The hitch must be completely free of binding.
Inspect the wiring harness between the left draft pin sensor and the TMF controller for damaged wires, chafing, or loose/corroded connectors.
Check reference voltage: Verify that the controller is sending the correct reference voltage (typically an 8-volt reference) to the draft pin sensors.
Perform a swap test (if applicable): Temporarily swap the left and right pin connections to see if the fault follows the sensor (changes to code 57 for the right pin) or stays with the wiring/controller.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Lower the 3-point hitch completely and shut off the tractor. Ensure the lower link arms are supported if you are removing the pin.
Disconnect the Sensor
Unplug the electrical connector from the left draft pin sensor.
Remove the Faulty Pin
Remove the retaining hardware holding the left draft pin in place and slide the pin out of the lower link arm bracket.
Install the New Pin
Lubricate the new draft pin sensor as per OEM spec, slide it into the housing, and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor.
Recalibrate the Hitch
You must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure (Code 61 will often trigger indicating calibration is required). Enter the tractor's H-Menu/calibration mode, ensure the engine is running above 1600 RPM (if required by your specific model), and follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the hitch limits and draft sensors.
Alternative Repair (Bypass)
If the tractor is older and draft sensing is no longer used by the operator, aftermarket 'Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kits' can be installed. These plug into the harness to send a fixed 'no load' voltage to the controller, permanently bypassing the sensors and preventing the code.
