Case IH 58 – Transmission ECM: REVERSE_SW_LO_ERR
Issue description
This code triggers when the Transmission ECM detects that the voltage from the Forward-Neutral-Reverse (FNR) lever's reverse position switch has dropped below 0.7 volts. This indicates either a short to ground or an open circuit in the wiring, a failure of the 5-volt sensor supply, or a failure of the FNR lever switch itself. The transmission will generally continue to operate normally, but the operator will experience a noticeable delay whenever the reverse position is selected.

Check the cause
Turn the starter key to the OFF position.
Disconnect the control panel and the main connections on the Transmission ECM.
Check for Open Circuits: Test for electrical continuity between the ECM connector (e.g., CN2-20) and the corresponding connection on the Shuttle lever harness.
Check for Shorts to Ground: Test the reverse signal wire at the ECM connector (e.g., pin CN2-27) to see if it is shorted to ground.
Check the 5V Reference: Ensure the common 5-volt sensor supply wire from the ECM is not shorted to ground or open between the FNR switch and any other 5-volt sensor on the circuit.
If the wiring harness passes all continuity and voltage checks, the FNR Lever Reverse Position Switch has failed internally.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.
Remove the trim/cowling around the steering column or the armrest console to access the base of the shuttle lever.
Depending on where your specific model's FNR lever is mounted.
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the FNR lever assembly.
Unbolt and remove the faulty FNR lever assembly.
Note: On most modern Case IH models, the reverse switch is integrated into the lever assembly and is replaced as a single unit.
Install the new or remanufactured FNR lever assembly and secure the mounting bolts.
Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the console/steering column covers.
Reconnect the battery.
Clear the error from the ECM.
The cause must be resolved and the error must be actively cleared from the ECM using the tractor's diagnostic display (CDU) or the Electronic Service Tool (EST) HF Menu.
