Case IH 5811 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Loader Port Lock Switch Is In An Implausible State

The control module is receiving a signal from the loader port lock switch that does not make logical sense (e.g., reading both open and closed simultaneously, or returning a voltage value outside the expected parameters for its current physical position).

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the machine's instrument cluster diagnostic menu to monitor the state of the Loader Port Lock Switch. Toggle the switch to see if the status changes.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the switch for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins in the connector that could cause an intermittent or implausible signal.

   Disconnect the switch and measure the resistance through the signal wires to verify that there are no shorts to ground or shorts to power in the harness.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Repair Wiring

   If your diagnostic checks revealed a damaged harness or corroded connector, repair or replace the affected wiring section or connector housing.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring tests good but the switch status did not change during testing (or if fault code 5811 remains active), the internal contacts of the switch have likely failed. Remove the faulty Loader Port Lock Switch from the console/dash and install a new one.

   Verify Repair

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and toggle the new switch. Use the service tool or instrument cluster to clear the inactive fault codes and verify that code 5811 does not return.
