Case IH 60 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller, Armrest Controller (ARM), or EDC/Hitch Controller: Draft pin connected to left vs right for single pin setup during calibration
Issue description
An invalid configuration was detected during the hitch calibration process. The controller expects a specific draft pin configuration (e.g., a single draft pin setup defaulting to the right side) but detects voltage on the opposite side (e.g., the left draft pin circuit). It can also trigger if the armrest controller is configured for a tractor without draft control, but a draft pin is physically detected.

8 machines- Magnum
- Magnum Series
- MX Magnum Series
- TG Series
- Steiger Series
- Puma Series
- Maxxum Series
- CX Series
Check the cause
Verify physical connection of the lower link draft pins to ensure the wiring harness is connected to the right-side draft pin for a single-pin setup.
Inspect the hitch wiring harness for continuity, shorts to ground, or crossed connections between the left and right draft pin connectors.
Test the resistance of the draft pin sensor to ensure it is within the 'no load' specification (e.g., 270-330 ohms between Pin A and Pin C on 8900 series).
Verify the Armrest controller configuration to ensure it hasn't been incorrectly calibrated for draft control on a position-only hitch setup.
Repair steps
Correct the Harness Routing
If the wrong draft pin is connected (e.g., left side connected instead of the right side on a single-pin setup), remove the wire harness from the left side draft pin and connect it to the right side.
Repair Wiring
If voltage is bleeding over due to a short in the harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the hitch wiring harness.
Replace the Sensor
If the draft pin sensor tests out of specification, remove the faulty draft pin and install a new OEM replacement.
Perform Hitch Calibration
After correcting the wiring or replacing the pin, restart the engine and perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure. Engine speed must typically be set above 1600 RPM during the calibration of the lower valve.
Install Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit (Alternative)
For older Magnums (e.g., 7100, 7200, 8900 series) where draft sensing is no longer needed, install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit to bypass the system entirely and restore standard hitch position control.
