Case IH 6008 – MFD/Diff Lock Controller (TMF or ATC): MFD/Diff Lock 6008: Steering angle sensor above maximum voltage limit.
Issue description
This fault indicates that the signal voltage returning from the front axle's steering angle sensor to the controller has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold (typically > 4.5V on a 5V reference circuit). This condition is most commonly caused by an open ground circuit, a short to a power source on the signal wire, or an internal failure of the sensor itself. When this code is active, auto-guidance (auto-steer) and automatic Mechanical Front Drive (MFD)/Differential Lock disengagement functions will be disabled or impaired.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the steering angle sensor housing, wiring harness, and connector for physical damage, packed debris, or corrosion.
Disconnect the sensor, turn the key to the ON position, and verify the connector is receiving a 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground connection (an open ground will cause the signal voltage to float high).
Test the signal wire for continuity between the sensor connector and the MFD/TMF controller, ensuring it is not shorted to a 12V or 5V power source.
If the wiring harness, reference voltage, and ground are all within specification, verify if the steering angle sensor has failed internally.
Repair steps
Park and secure the tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface with the front wheels pointing perfectly straight ahead. Turn off the engine, apply the parking brake, and remove the key.
Locate the sensor
Locate the steering angle sensor assembly on the front axle (typically mounted near the steering cylinder or kingpin).
Disconnect the harness
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.
Remove the faulty sensor
Remove the retaining hardware (bolts/screws) and carefully remove the faulty sensor.
Install the new sensor
Install the new OEM steering angle sensor and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reconnect the harness
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather-pack seal clicks firmly into place.
Perform sensor calibration
Power on the tractor. You must perform a steering angle sensor calibration using the tractor's in-cab display (AFS Pro monitor) or an electronic service tool. This usually involves turning the steering wheel full lock to the left, full lock to the right, and back to the center to teach the controller the new sensor's voltage range.
Clear fault code and test
Clear the 6008 fault code and test drive the tractor to verify that auto-steer and MFD functions operate correctly.
