Case IH 6013 – Tractor Control Unit (TCU): Steering pressure sensor below minimum voltage limit

The voltage signal returning from the steering pressure sensor to the controller is too low. This indicates a short circuit to ground in the sensor or wiring, or a faulty Tractor Control Unit (TCU).

   Check for other active 5.0 V sensor low-voltage error codes. If present, diagnose those first as a shared 5V reference circuit might be shorted elsewhere.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the steering pressure sensor and the TCU.

   Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, the pins are in the correct position, and the terminal fit is tight.

   Disconnect the sensor and the TCU and test the harness for continuity and shorts to ground.

   Perform diagnostic checks

   Perform the visual and electrical diagnostic checks on the wiring harness as outlined above.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If the wiring harness or connector is found to be damaged, chafed, or shorted to ground, repair the wiring or replace the steering pressure sensor wire harness.

   Replace steering pressure sensor

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly (good continuity, no shorts to ground, proper 5V supply), the steering pressure sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Install new sensor

   Unplug the sensor, unthread it from the hydraulic port, and install the new sensor. Ensure the appropriate O-ring is used to prevent hydraulic leaks.

   Reconnect wiring harness

   Reconnect the wiring harness.

6. 6

   Clear fault codes

   Clear the fault codes using an Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's diagnostic display, and operate the machine to verify the code does not return.
