Case IH 6019 – PTO Controller: PTO Solenoid Coil is failed short circuit or shorted to +12 volts

The system has detected an electrical fault where the Power Take-Off (PTO) solenoid coil has an internal short circuit, or the wiring harness supplying the solenoid has shorted directly to a 12-volt power source.

   Check for any other active fault codes (such as 10061). If others exist, follow their corresponding corrective actions first.

   Remove the controller cover from the rear of the tractor to access the PTO controller.

   Disconnect the black connector (C057) from the PTO controller.

   Test the resistance of the PTO solenoid circuit directly at the PTO controller connector (C057) to determine if the short is present in the wiring harness.

   Inspect the wiring circuit from the controller to the PTO solenoid for any rubbed, pinched, or damaged wires that could be shorting to a +12V source.

   Power down the tractor and access the PTO controller at the rear of the machine.

   Disconnect the main harness connector (C057) and use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the PTO solenoid circuit.

   If a short is detected, trace the wiring harness down to the PTO solenoid valve. Disconnect the harness directly at the solenoid.

   Measure the resistance of the PTO solenoid coil itself.

   If the coil's resistance indicates an internal short circuit, the solenoid coil must be replaced. Remove the retaining hardware on the PTO valve and slide the failed coil off.

   Install the new PTO solenoid coil and secure it.

   If the coil tests within specification, the short to +12V is located in the wiring harness between the solenoid and the controller. Locate the damaged section of the wire and repair or replace the harness.

   Reconnect all connectors, clear the fault codes from the system, and test the PTO engagement to verify the repair.
