Case IH 6025 – Hitch Controller: Hitch Raise Solenoid is failed shorted to 12 volts
Issue description
The hitch controller is detecting battery voltage (12V) on the raise solenoid driver circuit when it shouldn't be. This is typically caused by a chafed or pinched wiring harness shorting to 12V, an internally failed solenoid coil, or a failed high-side driver inside the controller.

Check the cause
Perform a harness continuity and short test by disconnecting the hitch controller connector (e.g., C058) and the connector at the hitch raise solenoid to check for shorts to 12V power lines.
Measure the resistance of the hitch raise solenoid coil directly at the component (a healthy coil typically reads between 6.4 to 6.8 ohms; lower readings or continuity to 12V indicate an internal short).
Perform a solenoid swap test by swapping the raise solenoid coil with the lower solenoid coil to see if the fault code follows the coil or remains 6025.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the key switch and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Inspect Wiring
Trace the wiring harness from the hitch controller to the rear hitch valve block. Look for rubbed-through insulation, especially where the harness routes near the cab mounts or transmission housing. Repair any damaged wires using weather-sealed connectors.
Replace the Solenoid Coil
If faulty, locate the hitch valve assembly at the rear of the tractor. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hitch raise solenoid. Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off and install the new OEM coil. Torque the retaining nut to OEM specifications (do not over-tighten, as this can distort the cartridge) and reconnect the harness.
Controller Replacement
If the wiring tests perfectly and the solenoid is within spec, the high-side driver inside the hitch controller has likely failed. The controller will need to be replaced and reprogrammed/calibrated by a dealer.
Clear and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, clear the stored fault codes, and perform a hitch calibration procedure to ensure the raise/lower valve thresholds are set correctly.
