Case IH 6025 – Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Drivetrain/Chassis controller: No FWD pressure

The control module has commanded the FWD (Front Wheel Drive) clutch to engage, but the system is not detecting the required hydraulic pressure to apply the clutch pack.

   Check for related fault codes: Code 6023 indicates an open circuit at the FWD solenoid, and 6026 indicates a stuck FWD pressure switch. If present, the issue is likely electrical.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the FWD solenoid and the FWD pressure switch (located on the transmission control valve block) for melted insulation, chafed wires, or loose connectors.

   Perform a magnetism test: Turn the key switch ON (engine off) and engage the FWD switch. Place a steel screwdriver against the FWD solenoid nut/stem. Magnetic pull indicates the circuit works (pointing to hydraulic/mechanical issues); no pull indicates a dead circuit.

   Perform a solenoid swap test: Swap the FWD solenoid with an identical adjacent solenoid on the FNR valve block. If the fault follows the solenoid, the coil is dead.

   Perform a hydraulic pressure test: Connect a manual gauge to the FWD clutch test port. If manual pressure is within spec, the FWD pressure switch is faulty. If pressure is low, suspect an internal hydraulic leak or pump issue.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, lower all implements, and turn off the engine. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure by cycling the remotes.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the transmission control valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical connector from the FWD solenoid or FWD pressure switch.

   Remove the Component

   For the Solenoid: Remove the retaining nut or circlip holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the coil off. If the cartridge itself is stuck or leaking, unthread the cartridge from the valve block. For the Pressure Switch: Unthread the pressure switch from the transmission housing/valve block. Have a drain pan ready to catch a small amount of hydraulic fluid.

   Install New Parts

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid cartridge or pressure switch with clean transmission fluid. Thread the new component into the block and torque to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble

   Slide the new solenoid coil over the stem and secure it with the retaining nut/circlip. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Test

   Start the tractor, engage the FWD, and check for leaks. Clear the fault codes from the TCM and verify that code 6025 does not return.
