Indicates that the engine was shut down while it was still operating under a heavy load (above a pre-programmed threshold). This happens either due to operator error (keying off without a proper cool-down idle) or an automatic protection shutdown triggered by a critical failure (such as severe loss of oil pressure or extreme overheating).

   Check for Primary Fault Codes: Scan the ECM for other active or stored critical engine codes (e.g., low engine oil pressure, high coolant temperature, high intake manifold temperature) that may have forced a protection shutdown.

   Operator Interview: If no other codes are present, speak with the operator about their shutdown habits to determine if the machine was keyed off immediately after heavy work without a standard 3-to-5 minute cool-down idle.

   Address Primary Faults First

   If your diagnostic scan reveals other critical engine codes (like a failing oil pressure sensor or overheating condition), diagnose and repair those root causes first. The 611 code is merely a symptom of the engine being forced to shut down by those primary faults.

   If the code was caused by the operator turning the key off under load, no mechanical repair is necessary. Instruct the operator on proper shutdown procedures—specifically, allowing the engine to idle with no load for a few minutes before key-off to allow the turbocharger and internal components to cool properly.
