Case IH 6115 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Lube Valve Coil circuit is shorted to 12 volts when the valve is ON
Issue description
The transmission controller has commanded the lube valve solenoid coil to turn on, but the system detects that the voltage on the low side of the coil is higher than expected. This condition points to a short circuit to a 12-volt power source.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the transmission controller and the lube valve solenoid for chafed, pinched, or melted wires bridging the circuit to a 12V power source.
Perform a solenoid coil resistance test by disconnecting the electrical connector and measuring resistance across the coil pins to check for a dead short.
Perform a controller output test to determine if the transmission controller has an internal failure (if wiring and coil test good).
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Locate the Valve
Locate the transmission control valve block and identify the supplementary lube valve solenoid.
Disconnect and Isolate
Unplug the electrical connector from the lube valve solenoid.
Repair Wiring
If your diagnostic tests revealed a short to power in the harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.
Replace the Solenoid
If the coil is internally shorted, remove the retaining nut/fastener holding the coil to the valve stem. Slide the old coil off and install the new replacement coil. (On some valve blocks, the entire solenoid valve cartridge must be unthreaded and replaced).
Reassemble
Reconnect the electrical harness to the solenoid.
Test and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Clear the stored fault codes from the Transmission Controller. Start the tractor and operate the transmission (specifically modulating the clutches) to ensure the code does not return.
Controller Replacement
If the code returns and the wiring/solenoid are 100% verified as good, the transmission controller must be replaced and the transmission recalibrated.
