67

Case IH 67 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Forward switch input from the FNRP Pod is shorted to +12 Volts or the FNRP pod 5 Volt Reference

Issue description

The FNRP Pod Forward switch is shorted to power, indicating a short to +12 Volts or the 5 Volt reference in the forward switch input circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • MX Magnum
  • STX Steiger
  • Case IH STX Steiger series (e.g., STX 325, 435, 535)
  • Case IH MX Magnum series
  • Case IH Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
  • Case IH Quadtrac series

Check the cause

  1. Check for companion codes: Determine if fault code 69 (FNRP Pod Reverse switch is shorted to power) is also active.

  2. If Code 67 is accompanied by Code 69 (5-Volt supply circuit failure): Check the wiring between Pin 8 of connector C051 and pin 16 of connector C027 for a short to power.

  3. If Code 67 is active WITHOUT Code 69 (Forward circuit failure): Check the wiring between Pin 6 of connector C051 and pin 13 of connector C027 for a short to power.

  4. Visually inspect the connectors for bent pins, loose connections, or rubbed-through wire insulation that could be introducing +12V or 5V reference voltage into the forward switch signal wire.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect battery power before servicing the transmission control assembly.

  2. Access FNRP shuttle lever

Access the steering column or armrest console where the FNRP shuttle lever is mounted.

  3. Disconnect connectors

Disconnect connectors C051 and C027 to isolate the FNRP pod wiring harness.

  4. Test forward switch circuit

Using a multimeter, test the forward switch circuit (Pin 6 to Pin 13) for continuity to any 12V power source or the 5V reference line.

  5. Repair or replace wiring

Repair any damaged wiring or replace the harness if a short is found.

  6. Replace FNRP switch or shuttle lever

If the wiring harness tests good, the internal contacts of the FNRP switch/lever assembly have failed and are shorting internally. Replace the FNRP switch or the entire shuttle lever assembly.

  7. Reassemble and verify

Reassemble the pod housings, reconnect the battery, and clear the transmission fault codes to verify the repair.
