Case IH 67 – Transmission ECM: SOL_HL_SHORT_12V_DIS_ERR 27 CP/SL Dis

The Synchronizer Hi-Lo (Forward) Solenoid or the ECM driver has a short to 12 Volts. The transmission is disabled, the Transmission Status Lamps (Hi/Rabbit and Lo/Turtle) will flash in an alternating manner, and the dump solenoid stays de-energized.

   Turn the starter key to the OFF position.

   Disconnect the control panel and the connections (137) on the Transmission ECM.

   Using a digital multimeter, check if there is a reading of +12V between pin CN1-16 (GN) on the ECM connector and ground.

   If YES (Voltage is present): The wiring harness has a short to power. Check the wiring between pin CN1-16 and the solenoid coil terminal for a short to a 12V source.

   If NO (No voltage present): The ECM itself is faulty. The internal ECM driver for the Hi-Lo solenoid is shorted to ground or open.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn the tractor off and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage during repair.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the Power Shuttle Control Valve block. On 32x16 and similar transmissions, the Synchronizer Shuttle (Reverse) and Hi-Lo (Forward) Solenoids are located on the bottom of the Power Shuttle Control Valve. The Hi-Lo (Forward) solenoid is typically the one positioned toward the front of the tractor.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   If your diagnostic tests indicated a wiring short, trace the harness from the solenoid back to the ECM. Repair any chafed wires, melted insulation, or corroded connectors bridging to a 12V power wire.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the wiring is intact and the ECM is functioning properly, the internal coil of the Hi-Lo (Forward) solenoid has failed. Remove the retaining nut/clip on the Power Shuttle Control Valve, slide the old solenoid coil off the valve cartridge, and install the new solenoid.

   Replace the ECM (If necessary)

   If the diagnostic test resulted in a 'NO' (indicating an internal ECM driver failure), the Transmission ECM must be replaced.

   Recalibrate

   If the ECM or the solenoid valve is replaced, you must perform a clutch calibration procedure using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's H-Menu.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the fault codes from the ECM memory. Test drive the tractor in Forward and Reverse to ensure the CP/SL disable condition has been resolved.
