Case IH 69 – EHR (Electronic Hitch Control) module, Armrest Controller, or XCM (Central Controller): Control Lever EDC Raise/Lower Switch Failure
Issue description
The EDC (Electronic Draft Control) system uses a fast raise/lower switch located on the operator's control lever or armrest to quickly lift or drop the 3-point hitch/implement. This code triggers when the control module detects an invalid signal, open circuit, or short circuit from this specific switch.

- MXM Series

Check the cause
Inspect the EDC raise/lower switch on the control lever for physical damage, sticking buttons, or debris preventing full travel.
Verify the fuses powering the armrest controller and the tractor performance monitor/EDC system.
Access the wiring harness beneath the armrest console. Check the specific connector for the EDC switch for loose pins, corrosion, or a poor fit.
Using a multimeter, test the switch to ensure it correctly toggles between open and closed states. Verify that the reference voltage from the Armrest Controller is reaching the switch.
Look for other codes (e.g., CAN bus communication errors or hitch position sensor faults) that might indicate a broader module failure rather than an isolated switch failure.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface. Manually lower the 3-point hitch/implement to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery.
Access the Switch
Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the trim/cover on the armrest console or the multi-function control lever to expose the internal wiring.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector directly attached to the EDC raise/lower switch.
Removal
Unclip or unscrew the faulty switch assembly from its mounting point on the lever/console.
Installation
Seat the new OEM switch into the control lever and secure it.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the armrest console trim.
Calibration/Testing
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position. Clear the stored fault codes. Start the tractor and test the fast raise/lower function to ensure the hitch responds correctly and that the Auto-PTO disengage/engage feature functions properly during the lift cycle.
