Case IH 7015 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) or Armrest / Multi-Function Display (MFD) controller: Differential Lock Solenoid Stuck Off

The control system has commanded the differential lock to engage, but the solenoid driver is failing to activate the valve. This is typically caused by an open circuit, a failed solenoid coil, damaged wiring, or a faulty differential lock switch.

   Check the Switch: Verify that the differential lock switch (located on the floor or in the armrest) is functioning. Use a multimeter to ensure it is sending power when pressed.

   Wiring and Ground Check: Check the resistance at the output side of the switch to ground. Look for a broken wire (high resistance/open limit) or a shorted wire (very low resistance).

   Inspect Connectors: Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the differential lock solenoid for loose connections, bent pins, or corrosion.

   Test the Solenoid Coil: Disconnect the solenoid and test the coil for continuity. If the coil is open or shorted internally, the solenoid must be replaced.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the differential lock solenoid valve assembly, which is typically mounted on the transmission or rear axle housing.

   Disconnect Power

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Remove the retaining nut or hardware holding the solenoid coil to the hydraulic valve stem. Slide the old solenoid off the valve. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system to replace just the electrical coil, but clean the area first to prevent dirt ingress if the valve cartridge is removed).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid.

   Test

   Start the tractor and press the differential lock switch. Verify that the differential lock engages and the indicator light on the dash illuminates and stays on until you tap the brakes.
