702-04 - UCM

Case IH 702-04 - UCM – UCM: Scraper (auto aux) input 2 voltage high

Issue description

The control module is seeing a voltage signal from the scraper's auxiliary input 2 circuit that exceeds the normal operating range (typically indicating a short to power or an open circuit).

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Steiger
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness between the UCM and the scraper auxiliary input 2 sensor/switch for any visible damage, rubbing, or pinched wires.

  2. Check the connector pins at both the UCM and the scraper input sensor for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.

  3. Test the circuit with a multimeter to verify if there is a short to a high-voltage source or an open ground on the sensor circuit.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect battery power before servicing the UCM or harness.

  2. Repair or replace wiring harness

Repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness if a short to power or open circuit is found.

  3. Clean and re-seat connectors

Clean and re-seat the connectors at the UCM and the scraper auxiliary input.

  4. Replace sensor/switch

If the wiring is intact and the voltage reading at the sensor is out of specification, replace the scraper auxiliary input sensor/switch.

  5. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes via the Pro 700 / AFS Connect monitor and cycle the key to verify the repair.
