Issue description
The control module responsible for the tractor's steering or auto-guidance system has stopped receiving the expected CAN bus data packets containing the front axle's steering angle position. The message is expected to be relayed over the network from the Instrument Cluster (ICP), and the "timeout" indicates a lapse in this communication.

Check the cause
System Voltage Check: Verify battery and system voltage. Low voltage can cause CAN communication dropouts and trigger cluster timeouts.
CAN Bus & Wiring Inspection: Check the wiring harness and connectors between the steering angle sensor on the front axle, the Instrument Cluster, and the CCM. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or disconnected plugs.
Mechanical Linkage Check: Inspect the mechanical linkage arm connecting the front axle to the steering angle sensor. Ensure it is not loose, bent, or disconnected, which can push the sensor out of its readable range.
Sensor Voltage Output: Access the diagnostic display to check the sensor's raw voltage. It should read approximately 2.5 volts when the wheels are perfectly straight. If it reads 0V or is out of the maximum/minimum limits, the sensor is likely dead or severely misadjusted.
Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for related codes that might pinpoint the root cause (e.g., Code 1013: No communication with the ICP, or Codes 6009/6010: Steering angle sensor above/below voltage limits).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during service.
Disconnect
Locate the steering angle sensor on the front axle and unplug its electrical connector.
Remove Linkage
Loosen and unbolt the mechanical linkage arm from the sensor shaft.
Swap Sensor
Remove the mounting bolts for the faulty sensor, remove it, and mount the new OEM replacement sensor.
Initial Calibration (Mechanical)
Reattach the mechanical linkage arm to the sensor shaft, but leave the clamp slightly loose.
Set Voltage
Power the tractor's electrical system on (do not start the engine) and access the steering angle sensor voltage on the cab display. Ensure the front wheels are pointing perfectly straight ahead.
Lock it In
Manually rotate the sensor's shaft until the display reads exactly 2.5 volts. Once 2.5V is achieved, tighten the mechanical arm clamp to lock the sensor in this calibrated center position.
Clear & Test
Clear the 7105 fault code from the system. Perform a test drive, engaging the auto-steer/guidance system to verify it tracks correctly without dropping the CAN message.
