Case IH 73 – PTO Controller or Armrest Controller / Cab (MCC) Controller: ECM (2) SUPPLY VOLTAGE (12VF) IS TOO HIGH

The ECM detects voltage above 18 volts for longer than 0.3 seconds, usually caused by a faulty/overcharged battery or a bad alternator, resulting in the transmission being critically disabled. Alternatively, a safety interlock is triggered if the tractor's control system detects that the tractor is moving while the remote PTO switch is in the ON position.

   Check the remote fender PTO switch for physical damage, dirt packing, or a stuck button mechanism

   Inspect the wiring looms near the rear fenders and moving parts for broken wires, corroded connectors, or a short circuit to 12V/ground

   Confirm power reaches the PTO switch and test continuity through the switch to ensure it is not internally shorted (stuck closed)

   Ensure the tractor's speed sensors are not sending erratic 'moving' signals to the ECM when the tractor is actually stationary

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the remote PTO switch on the rear fender. Remove the mounting screws or retaining clip holding the switch assembly in place.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the back of the switch. Inspect the connector for moisture or green corrosion. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.

   Replace

   Connect the new OEM remote PTO switch to the wiring harness.

   Reinstall

   Seat the switch back into the fender housing and secure it.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, leave it in neutral with the parking brake on, and test the remote PTO engagement. Then, disengage it, drive the tractor, and ensure the fault code does not return.
