Case IH 741-04 - DEC – Transmission Controller: Forward Clutch Solenoid Circuit Voltage Below Normal

The transmission controller has measured the voltage on the forward clutch solenoid circuit and found it to be lower than expected. This indicates that the electrical circuit is either open, shorted to ground, or has completely lost its power supply.

   Measure the voltage on the forward clutch solenoid feed circuit (wire 4014 or 4015).

   Inspect the female electrical connector (X-032) that plugs directly into the forward clutch solenoid for corrosion, pushed pins, or broken wires.

   Test the wiring harness between the TCU and the solenoid to confirm if the circuit is open or shorted to ground.

   Check the forward clutch solenoid coil for an open circuit, low amps, or abnormal amp draw, which would indicate an internal failure of the solenoid coil itself.

   Safely park the tractor, stop the engine, and ensure all pressure is relieved from the hydraulic circuits before removing any valves or covers.

   Locate the transmission control valve block and identify the forward clutch solenoid.

   Disconnect the female electrical connector from the forward clutch solenoid.

   If the connector is faulty, cut back the damaged wiring and splice in a replacement female wire connector.

   If the solenoid is faulty, remove the retaining hardware and extract the failed forward clutch solenoid valve from the transmission block.

   Install the new solenoid and secure it.

   Reconnect the electrical connector to the solenoid.

   Turn on the tractor and navigate to the diagnostics menu on the AFS Pro display to clear the active fault codes.

   Perform a transmission clutch calibration.

   The TCU may flag that the clutch is no longer calibrated after a circuit interruption or parts replacement.
