Case IH 8006 – Front PTO Controller or ATC (Armrest / Tractor Controller): Low side driver is stuck on and no current is sensed.
Issue description
The controller is commanding the low side driver (the ground path) for the Front PTO solenoid to turn ON, but it detects zero electrical current flowing through the circuit. This mismatch typically indicates an open circuit. The most common culprits are a disconnected plug, a broken wire in the harness, a burnt-out (open) solenoid coil, or an internal failure of the driver inside the control module.

Check the cause
Verify that the Front PTO voltage supply fuse (often labeled 12VU2) is not blown, as this will cut power to the solenoid.
Inspect the Front PTO solenoid electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.
Check the wiring harness for visible chafing or breaks.
Disconnect the solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. A reading of 'OL' (open loop) indicates the coil has failed internally.
If the coil tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the ATC/Front PTO controller to isolate a broken wire.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.
Access the Solenoid
Locate the Front PTO solenoid valve block, typically integrated into the front hitch/PTO housing.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty Front PTO solenoid.
Remove the Coil
Remove the retaining nut at the top of the solenoid valve stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system to replace just the electrical coil).
Install the New Part
Slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil.
Reconnect and Seal
Reconnect the electrical harness. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the connector pins to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Wiring Repair (If Applicable)
If the solenoid was not the issue and a broken wire was found during diagnostics, splice and repair the wire using weather-sealed (heat-shrink) connectors.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the ignition on, navigate to the tractor's diagnostic display, and clear the inactive 8006 fault code. Start the tractor and test the Front PTO engagement to verify the repair.
