The data link (CAN bus) communication between the machine's engine control unit (ECU) and other modules on the network has been interrupted or lost.

   Check for Multiple Codes: Determine if other communication codes are present (e.g., INST2 12101 'Communications Lost with Tractor ECU Controller'). If multiple modules are offline, the issue is likely a main CAN bus failure rather than a single module.

   Wiring Harness & Connections: Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the Transmission Controller and the Engine Controller. Look for wires that have failed open or shorted to ground.

   Power and Ground: Verify that the Engine Controller is receiving proper unswitched 12-volt supply voltage and has a solid ground connection. A dead Engine ECU cannot broadcast on the CAN bus.

   Repair wiring harness

   Repair or replace the damaged section of the CAN bus wiring harness if an open or short circuit is found.

   Clean and secure connectors

   Clean and secure the pin connectors at both the Engine Controller and the Transmission Controller.

   Replace control module

   If the wiring harness and power/ground supplies test good, the Engine Controller (ECU) or Transmission Controller (TCU) itself may have suffered a hardware failure and will require replacement and reprogramming.
