Case IH 9006 – Hitch/MFD/Differential Lock Controller or Front Hitch Management (FHM) / EDC module: Front hitch position potentiometer - not calibrated

Triggered when the electronic control system detects that the operating range (the high and low limits) of the front hitch position sensor has not been learned or saved in the system's memory. This often happens if the potentiometer was recently replaced, if the battery/controller memory was cleared, or if the sensor physically slipped out of its calibrated range.

   Inspect the front hitch position potentiometer to ensure it is securely mounted and the mechanical linkage connecting it to the hitch is intact, not bent, and not disconnected.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the potentiometer for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or chafed wires.

   Ensure the front hitch is free of heavy implements or physical obstructions that would prevent it from moving through its full, unrestricted range of motion.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface away from obstacles. Apply the parking brake and block the wheels. Ensure the ground speed is zero.

   Remove Implements

   Disconnect any implements from the front hitch so it can move freely without load.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Depending on the model, insert the CNH diagnostic connector (e.g., tool 380000843) into the diagnostic socket, or navigate to the 'Calibration' menu on the tractor's display monitor (e.g., under the 'Hitch' or 'FHM' tab).

   Perform the Sweep

   Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the linkage. Use the raise/lower switches to move the hitch to its absolute lowest physical point and save the value. Then move the hitch to its absolute highest physical point and save the value.

   Save and Exit

   Turn the key off for 30 seconds to allow the controller to store the memory.

   Test

   Turn the tractor back on and operate the front hitch using the joystick or armrest controls. If the calibration fails repeatedly or the code returns immediately, the potentiometer has an internal dead spot and must be replaced.
