Case IH 9006 – Instrument Cluster (IC): Memory Error - Triple Redundant - Hour Meter Location 3 Corrupt

The memory chip (EEPROM) storing the third backup of the hour meter data has failed a checksum validation and the data is corrupted or unreadable.

   Check for code persistence by clearing the code and cycling the machine's power to see if it is a one-off glitch

   Evaluate the frequency of the error; take action only if the error is permanent or repeats often

   Verify the main harness earth and cabin harness earth connections to the instrument cluster, as voltage spikes or poor grounds can cause EEPROM corruption

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Remove trim

   Remove the steering column trim or dashboard bezel surrounding the instrument cluster.

   Remove screws

   Remove the retaining screws holding the instrument cluster in place.

   Disconnect harness

   Carefully pull the cluster forward and disconnect the main wiring harness connector(s) from the rear.

   Connect new cluster

   Plug the wiring harness into the replacement instrument cluster.

   Install new cluster

   Mount the new cluster and reinstall the dashboard trim.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the battery.

   Sync cluster

   Depending on the specific machine model, a dealer may need to use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to sync the new cluster with the Engine Control Module (ECM) so the correct machine hours are restored from the surviving redundant memory locations.
