Case IH 9006 - UCM – UCM: Front hitch position potentiometer – not calibrated

This code indicates that the control module has lost the learned high and low travel limits (calibration values) for the front 3-point hitch position sensor, or a new, uncalibrated sensor has been installed. Because the system does not know the physical limits of the hitch's travel, front hitch management is disabled for safety.

   Verify Sensor Signal: Check the potentiometer voltage/reading in the tractor's diagnostic menu. Ensure it is not reading below 0.2V (open circuit/short to ground) or shorted to 12V.

   Check Configuration: Verify that the front hitch management option is enabled in the tractor's configuration (H3 menu: 'H3-RM-Front Hitch-Channel 1').

   Inspect Wiring: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (CN1B/2 or X395/X024) for the front hitch position sensor for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Clear Old Data

   Enter the tractor's H-menu (Calibration/Diagnostic menu) via the instrument cluster or display. Navigate to the H8 menu to clear the volatile memory (EEPROM) settings specifically for the front hitch.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Access the front hitch calibration procedure through the tractor's calibration menu.

   Set Limits

   Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the potentiometer. This generally involves using the hitch control switches to move the front hitch to its absolute lowest physical stop and saving the value, then moving it to its absolute highest physical stop and saving the value.

   Verify Operation

   Cycle the key switch (turn OFF, wait a few seconds, then turn ON). Test the front hitch using the joystick or armrest controls to ensure it moves smoothly through its full range of motion without throwing the 9006 code.

   Replace Sensor (If Calibration Fails)

   If the sensor reading is erratic during calibration, or if the calibration will not save, the potentiometer itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced. After replacement, repeat steps 1-4.
